Hello everyone.

My first post although i have being hanging around here for a while.

I have looked at the various threads on removing a MK II Galaxy bumper but mine still will not come off.

I have removed the 3 screws in each wheel arch, removed the cover under the light cluster and removed the screw.

I have also removed the four nuts holding the inside of the bumper to the bodywork but the bumper will not come off.

My main problem seems to be the part that goes down the sides of the car. This does not seem to come away from the body work.

On the MK I the bumper was held in a track at the side. Is this the same on the MK II ?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks for that Mumof 4

However my problem is I cannot move the bumper away from the bodwork as per the images right handside 2nd one down and it will not move back.

Do I have to be more brutal with it to get it away from the bodywork?

Is there a clip behind the bumper?

I recently did this in order to fit a new towbar.

I think the procedure is as follows:

1. Remove the two covers under the rear lights, then undo the torx head bolts that are underneath.

2. Remove the screws in the rear wheel arch (three each side I think) - a mixture of torx and philips.

3. Unplug the parking sensor connector.

4. Remove the 4 nuts each side that hold the reinforcement bar to the chassis).

5. I think that all that's holding the bumper on at this point are the clips at the side of the bumper.

6. On the side of the bumper, pull it outwards. The plastic bumper is really flexible, so you'd have to bend it an absolute mile before you break it.

7. When you've done one side, do the same on the other, and hey presto, the whole thing should come off.

Probably best to get someone to give you a hand to remove it, otherwise it could drop on the floor once you've undone everything

Hope you get on OK

After you have done all the bolts like the pictures indicate you have to pull the top of bumper towards you starting right behind the back wheels to get the 3 clips loose and the bumper comes out,you will have to aply quite some force to get it loose.

Sorted

There is a big clip at the end of the wrap around of the rear bumper. Need to plull it hard to get it off.

I took a phot of it and will post as soon as my camera batteries are recharged.

Thanks for all the help. :16:

Heres a photo of the clips that hold the wrap around part of the bumper to the bodywork.

You need to give the bumper quite a hard tug to get it past the large clip.

How did you manage to get the covers off from under the light clusters?
